How we use AI
Winelib Pro will use Claude, an AI model from Anthropic, to read labels, learn your taste and suggest wines. These features are still in development, so this page describes the plan, not what is live today. Here is what it does, what it doesn't, and how your data is treated.
Why we use AI
Most wine apps make you type a producer, vintage, grape and region for every bottle, then recommend whatever is popular. Winelib Pro aims to remove both problems, whether you own three bottles or three hundred.
How a bottle moves through Winelib

What the AI does in each feature

What this means for you
- Less typing. A photo replaces most manual entry, including labels in other languages.
- Honest answers. Wine data has gaps. Winelib tells you when something is an estimate instead of inventing a vintage.
- Reasons, not just rankings. Every recommendation comes with a plain-language explanation.
- You stay in control. You confirm scans, and you can correct or delete anything in your cellar.
Fair use
Each scan and recommendation uses real computing resources, so AI features will be part of Winelib Pro.
What can go wrong
- AI readings and suggestions can be wrong. That is why you will confirm every scanned wine before it is saved.
- Prices come from Vivino and are only indicative. They can be out of date or missing.
- Winelib does not sell, ship or take orders for alcohol. It only keeps your own record.
Responsible use and your data
- Winelib does not sell, ship or advertise alcohol. It is a record-keeping and discovery tool for adults of legal drinking age.
- Only the label photo or wine details needed for a task are sent to Claude. Your email address and account identifiers are not.
- Recommendations are about taste, not quantity. Nothing in the product encourages heavy drinking.
